Events & Performances

Sarasota Music Club offers monthly performances by professional musicians (October – March) and a performance by music scholarship winners at the awards luncheon in April.
Member-supported monthly performances are free and open to the public. They are held on the 3rd Friday in Eicher Auditorium, 5201 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota - in Sunnyside Village’s Community Center.
Refreshments and social time begin at 10:00 a.m., and performances begin at 10:30 a.m. (December and April times differ.)

Mike Markaverich, Jazz Piano & Vocals

Come and enjoy the lively sounds of jazz piano and vocals from the incredible Mike Markaverich. 

Mike will perform songs from the Great American Songbook, including tunes by George Gershwin and Cole Porter, along with jazz standards by composers such as Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonius Monk.

Mike, who has built a strong following in the Sarasota area, is a native of Nashua, New Hampshire. Blind since infancy, he began playing a toy piano at the age of 3. While studying at Dartmouth College, he decided to make music his career, and after earning a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire, he began his professional career on Cape Cod. He played solo and in various combos for 10 years before moving to Sarasota, where he is a regular member of the local jazz scene. Mike teaches jazz piano and has produced 10 of his own records.

Concert begins at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments and social hour begins at 10 a.m.

This program is offered at no charge and is open to the public. Non-members are asked to contribute a small donation ($2 minimum) to help support the organization's performance and scholarship programs.
