Music to End and Begin the Year

Sarasota Music Club presented a wonderful program of holiday music on December 16, Sparkling Sounds of the Season, presented by the Sunnyside Singers.

Under the direction of Suzanne Stearns, Sunnyside Singers treated the audience to cherished holiday songs, including a quartet performance of "Silent Night." Some tunes were less familiar and one was a brand new one, composed and performed by Nancy Seibert.

The program included solo performances by Jason Stearns, baritone, whose career includes leading roles in operas at the Metropolitan Opera and other opera houses throughout the world. The audience was thrilled at his splendid renditions of "White Christmas" and "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and his truly inspiring and awesome delivery of "O Holy Night."

A lovely holiday luncheon was enjoyed by many following the performance.

Juan De la Sierra, performer and composer, provided a wonderful performance of guitar music to open the new year. His music blends traditional Spanish, flamenco and Middle Eastern pieces, along with original compositions.

The club welcomed many visitors to the January performance, people who were familiar with the reputation of this inspiring guitarist. Sarasota Music Club was honored and pleased to be able to share his music with members and guests.
